B.J. Robinson heads for the third SUPR victory of his career.
What won the race: Outside front-row starter B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., led all the way Saturday at Boothill Speedway to earn his third career P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing victory in the tour's season opener. Robinson took the checkers six lengths ahead of Ray Moore of Haughton, La., who pressured Robinson most heavily in traffic about lap 25.
Key notes: Robinson's previous series victory came April 21, 2012, at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway. He finished second in series points last season and was SUPR's 2013 Rookie of the Year. ... Runner-up Ray Moore closed within a few lengths of Robinson in the final laps. ... The 2016 SUPR opener was the tour's 65th trip to Boothill. ... Boothill opened the tour for just the second time in its 27-year history (the previous came in 1995). ... Jim Bryant scratched from the feature lineup. ... The feature lasted 21 minutes and the checkers fell at 16 minutes after midnight.
