Mark Whitener won his third straight victory Saturday at East Bay.
What won the race: Polesitter Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., raced to his second straight UDLMCS victory to start the 2016 season by capturing the Scott Thompson Memorial victory at East Bay Raceway Park. Whitener pocketed $3,800 while Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., rallied from a mid-race pit stop to finish second.
Key notes: The victory was the series-leading 27th career for Whitener, who won at East Bay for the first time during UDLMCS competition. ... The race paid tribute to the former Plant City, Fla., racer who died in a 2006 automobile accident.
