Cory Hedgecock gets up to speed Saturday at I-75 Raceway.
What won the race: In a race with eight lead changes, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., overtook Scott Dedwylder on a late-race restart to complete a NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series sweep at I-75 Raceway. Hedgecock led the final three laps for a $2,500 victory.
Quotable: “On that last restart, Dedwylder went high just like he had in previous laps, so I went low, never cracked the throttle, it stuck, and I pulled alongside him,” Hedgecock said. “We went side-by-side through turn two, down the backstretch, and when we got to turn three, I never cracked the throttle. It stuck, and I drove by him to take the lead.”
Key notes: Hedgecock also won Friday's $2,000 feature and now has two series victories. ... Besides Hedgecock and runner-up Scott Dedwylder, other leaders were Richie Stephens (three times for nine laps), Chase Edge (laps 4-8), John Ownbey (three times includling laps 17-43). ... Stephens exited during a lap-29 caution period and Ownbey had a flat tire on lap 43 while leading, handing the point to Dedwylder. ... Edge lowered the track record in time trials.
On the move: Matt Henderson of Loudon, Tenn., started 12th and finished fifth; Marcus Minga of Shannon, Miss., made a 19th-to-seventh run.
Winner's sponsors: Hedgecock's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by SmithBuilt Homes, Brucebilt Performance, K&P Used Cars, Eagle Racing Engines, Rebel Diesel, Timeless Memories Photography, Renegade Fuel and ET Motorgear.
Points chase: Cory Hedgecock leads Chase Edge after going 2-for-2 in the season-opening NeSmith weekend.

Next series race: April 29, Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, AL) $2,000
