Doug Drown races to victory at Attica Raceway Park.
What won the race: Doug Drown of Wooster, Ohio, defended his home track, scoring his third career Sunoco American Late Model Series victory in the tour's 30-lap feature Friday night at Attica Raceway Park.
Quotable: “This thing was great anywhere we went on the track," Drown said. "I have to thank Keith Berner for building a heck of a shock and helping us out on things to do and Dave Hornikel for the help with the Swartz chassis ... I have to thank (car owner) Leroy Hall for believing in us to do a (chassis) switch after the year we had. I’ve always struggled in slick so to have a car we can maneuver around and beat Rusty, who is one of the best in the business, in the slick ... hopefully we can keep working and get better."
Key notes: In a race slowed by only one caution, Drown utilized the high line to take the lead from Rusty Schlenk on lap 17 after a very spirited battle. ... Drown registered his 14th career win at Attica, moving the defending track champion into second on the oval's all-time win list. ... ALMS competitors were on the card with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars. ... ALMS drivers head to Eldora Speedway's opener on Saturday.
On the move: Attica's opening-night winner, Mike Bores of Bellevue, Ohio, advanced from the 17th starting spot to finish sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Drown's Swartz Chassis is powered by a Malcuit Racing Engine and sponsored by Hall's Auto Sales, Nationwide Vehicle Protection, Kar Konnections and Wooster Glass Company
Points chase: Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., led the points after two events, but he didn't compete at Attica.
