What won the race: Second-starting Victor Lee of Danville, Ky., shot out to the early lead and never looked back, leading every lap en route to a $3,500 victory in Richmond's Rain Dodger 40. Fellow front-row starter Tommy Bailey of Corbin, Ky., was a distant second.
Quotable: "The preferred line was right around the bottom," said Lee. "We just held the bottom and the car was actually really, really good. I felt like anybody could have drove that thing."
Key notes: Lee has won his last three starts; he previously swept May 2-3 action at Ponderosa (Ky.) Speedway for $3,500 in total earnings. ... Glen Hounshell of Berea, Ky., drew a caution on the race's initial start. ... The main event was then slowed by a nine-car pileup in turn three on the second attempt at a start; contenders Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky., Derek Fisher of Olympia, Ky., and the track's reigning track champion Jason Barrett of Waco, Ky., were among drivers involved. ... Tyrel Todd of Eubank, Ky., suffered mechanical issues while running fourth late in the feature. ... The fourth annual event paid $3,500-to-win and $300-to-start thanks to a bonus from Tackett and Son Plumbing and Electric. ... The modified feature, won by David Adams of Richmond, was slowed by a peculiar caution for a dog on the racetrack; Lee pulled double duty, finishing second in the modified event. ... High school students received free grandstand admission to the event. ... Richmond hosts the 27th annual Sunoco Race Fuels Butterball Wooldridge Memorial on July 12.
On the move: Defending race winner Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind., advanced from seventh to finish third.
