Devin Moran waves the checkers after his $3,622 victory.
What won the race: Fifth-starting Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, topped second-starting Freddie Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., in the Dan Reno Memorial race at Atomic Speedway. He earned $3,622 for his second special-event victory of the weekend and third victory in a row overall, including the previous Saturday at Atomic.
Key notes: Rod Conley led early over Eddie Carrier Jr., but Jackie Boggs clipped the rear of Carrier's car heading into turn three, sending him spinning and collecting Freddie Carpenter; officials sent Boggs to the tail and restored Carrier and Carpenter to second and third. ... Moran went to work after that, picking his way to the front and overtaking Conley just past the halfway point of the 36-lapper. ... Tyler Carpenter got into the frontstretch wall running fourth just after Moran took the lead. ... Moran also earned $3,000 on Friday night with an AMRA-STARS Late Model Alliance victory at Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta, Ohio. ... The eighth annual event paid tribute to the late Dan Reno and carried identical purses for Late Models and modifieds ($3,622-to-win and $222-to-start). ... Bonuses of $222 went to dash winners, fast qualifiers and hard chargers in the Late Model and modified divisions. ... Atomic has the mammoth $50,000-to-win Buckeye Nationals coming up May 13-14 on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
On the move: Duane Chamberlain of Richmond, Ind., charged from ninth to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Moran's Barry Wright Race Car is powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by Tommy Pope Construction, Phillips Properties, Dow Cameron Oil and Gas, Donnie Moran Driving School, All About Wraps, Kendrick Excavating, Eddie's Sunoco and Accu-Force Shock Dyno.
