What won the race: For the second consecutive evening, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back, leading every circuit en route to an Old Man's Garage Spring Nationals victory. Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., kept pace with McDowell at times, but never mounted a serious challenge.

Quotable: "There in the mid-part of the race, I could feel it grinding on tire a little bit, so I slowed the pace down a little bit so I wouldn't hurt my tire and have a flat," McDowell said. "Sure enough, there at the end, guys were having flats ... there at the end, I felt like I had enough tire to stretch out there in case something happened."

Although the series wrapped up Saturday, Ray Cook's officiating crew offers a pair of "bonus races" the remainder of Memorial Day weekend with a $5,000-to-win event at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn., and a $3,000-to-win event at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C., the track where Cook began racing and promotes today.
