What won the race: Holding off 11th-starting Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., through multiple late-race restarts, third-starting Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., captured a $3,000 MARS DIRTcar Series victory at Monett Speedway.
Quotable: "This is my favorite racetrack. No matter what, it's just always racy. That's the good thing," Jackson said. "Sometimes it rubbers up, sometimes you have flats, but Randy (Mooneyham) does an awesome job. I like it a lot."
Key notes: Jackson captured his second MARS victory of the season; his last came at Clarksville Speedway on March 5. ... The winner posted a top-five finish in Saturday's Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway. .... Third-place finisher Jesse Stovall led the first half of the race before tire troubles struck. ... Will Vaught ran among the frontrunners early but retired on lap 18. ... MARS made its first stop at Monett on the 2016 season after an April 29 event was rained out. ... The 16th annual event honored the NASCAR Truck Series driver who died from injuries suffered in an accident at Texas Motor Speedway.
On the move: Pitting to change a tire and returning to the tail of the field, Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., posted a third-place finish.
Winner's sponsors: Jackson's No. 56 machine is sponsored by Lindsay Chevrolet, Odell Trucking, Smith Creek Moonshine, TJR Motorsports, Keyser Mfg., Razor Edge Graphics, Midwest Sheet Metal, RaceNote and Merrill Bonding.
