What won the race: At the site of his biggest career Super Late Model victory, second-starting Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., jumped to the lead at the outset and led every lap for a $3,500 payday and his first career Three State Flyers victory.
Quotable: "I knew I had to beat J.T. (Spence) into the first turn if we had a shot to win. This car was just about perfect from the middle up to the top and as a driver, you can't ask for more than that." Hollidge said, then reflected on four victories so far in 2014. "We've really stepped up our program this year. Joey Pingleton, my Mom and Dad and all the people who help with this deal work their guts out and the results are starting to show."
Key notes: Fast qualifier and first heat winner Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., followed Hollidge across the finish after starting fourth; polesitter J.T. Spence rounded out the podium. ... The feature was slowed by a pair of cautions on lap 17 and lap 32. ... Hollidge previously collected $10,000 for a World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory at Winchester on Aug. 24, 2013. ... Brad Omps scratched from the Late Model feature. ... Rob Nichols of Front Royal, Va., bagged $1,000 for his victory in the 20-lap Crate Late Model feature.
Winner's sponsors: Hollidge's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Hershey's Race Engine and carries sponsorship from Gunter's Honey, Three Mules Welding Supplies, Carruth & Son Concrete and D&D Auto Recycling.
Points chase: Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, Del., entered event atop the series point standings; Pettyjohn had mechanical issues in qualifying, but rebounded to finish fifth in the feature.
