Mike Balcaen heads to victory at River Cities Speedway.
What won the race: Rebounding from a barrel-rolling wreck that knocked his helmet off one week earlier, polesitter Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, led all 20 laps of Friday's Northern LateModel Racing Association Series event at River Cities Speedway to earn a $1,100 payday. His first victory of the season came by 0.924 of a second over hometown driver Brad Seng.
Key notes: Balcaen earned his 23rd career NLRA victory and 211th victory overall. ... Balcaen's June 9 wreck at River Cities literally sent his helmet flying out of the car amid four barrel rolls; the car was demolished and he was shaken up. ...
