Chris Ferguson gets rolling in prelims at Dublin, N.C.
What won the race: After falling back to the fourth position, second-starting Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., used a top-side rally to storm back to the front, overtaking polesitter G.R. Smith for a $5,000 Ultimate Super Late Model Series payday in the Rattlesnake Rumble.
Quotable: "That's the good thing about being second is you can try around," said a tired Ferguson in victory lane. "Everybody was right around the bottom and I lived and died by the top."
Key notes: Ferguson, who won on his mother's birthday, notched his third Ultimate victory of the season and the ninth of his career. ... The Dublin track record holder, Ferguson also won in Ultimate action at Dublin on Aug. 29, 2015. ... The lineup was set straight from qualifying. ...
