What won the race: Surviving a late skirmish with Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., captured the Bob Miller Memorial for a $10,000 payday in 201 Speedway's event honoring the late sponsor of both drivers. Boggs, who inherited the lead after Bloomquist slowed with a flat right-rear tire that resulted from contact with Boggs as they raced together in lapped traffic on lap 43, was victorious in the special race for the second consecutive year.
Quotable: “I couldn’t outrun Scott,” said Boggs, who led the race until Bloomquist gained control near the halfway point. “He had a better tire than I had and he could race his car harder, but we got together over there in lapped traffic (on lap 43). He changed his line up and man, I thought he was gonna wreck us both. It’s just a racing thing that happened … I didn’t mean for it to happen like that, but anyway, we’ll take this win any way we can get it. Either me or Scott, Bob (Miller) would’ve loved either either one of us to have won it.”
Key notes: Bloomquist rallied to finish eighth after pitting to change his flat tire on lap 43. ... Greg Johnson finished second; he was unable to seriously challenge Boggs after the lap-43 restart, but he said afterward that he thought an earlier pass he made on Boggs for position shouldn't have been negated by a caution flag. ... Eddie Carrier Jr., driving Jake Keaton's Rocket after the recent folding of the Grover Motorsports team, was third. "I’m not done," he said. "I’m not done winning either ... I think I proved that tonight." ... The Bob Miller Memorial, originally scheduled to have been sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Series, honored the long-time dirt racing sponsor.
