Kyle Berck takes the checkers for his 67th career SLMRS win.
What won the race: Outside polesitter Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., topped fourth-starting Jesse Sobbing of Malvern, Iowa, to kick off the Silver Dollar Nationals weekend at I-80 Speedway. Berck grabbed his fourth Super Late Model Racing Series checkered flag of the 2016 season, earning a $2,000 payday.
Key notes: Berck notched his 67th career SLMRS victory. His last came at Adams County Speedway on June 4. ... The event opened the Silver Dollar Nationals weekend, which is headlined by a $40,000-to-win program on Friday and Saturday for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association. ... Third-place finisher Tad Pospisil was the winner of a June 22 SLMRS event at I-80. ... The series wraps up its season on Oct. 8 with a final visit to Greenwood.
On the move: R.C. Whitwell of Tucson, Ariz., charged from the 13th starting spot to finish fourth.
