Garrett Alberson drives toward a victory at I-30 Speedway.
What won the race: Polesitter Garrett Alberson of Los Cruces, N.M., led all 33 laps of the Rockabilly 33 opener for his first career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory. Alberson crossed I-30 Speedway's finish line 1.378 seconds ahead of runner-up Jack Sullivan of Batesville, Ark.
Quotable: “This win means a lot because we have been so close in so many of these Comp Cams Series races, but just haven’t been able to get over the hump,” Alberson said. “I’m so thankful for the opportunity that Mr. Raymond Childress gives me with this ride, and it makes me really happy to be able to give him this win.”
Key notes: Saturday's $5,000-to-win event was rained out; at the makeup, Alberson can shoot for a $1,000 bonus if he can win the Rockabilly 45. ... Timothy Culp debuted a new GRT Race Car with a 10th-place finish. ... The event was slowed by three caution flags on laps 16, 23 and 26. ... Outside polesitter Scott Crigler fell to 12th in the final rundown. ... Clay Fisher's night ended with a wreck in the consolation race.
On the move: Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Ark., started 10th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Alberson's No. F5 Black Diamond Chassis is powered by a Durham Racing Engine and is sponsored by Childress Fishing & Rental, Childress Inspections Services, J&J Motorsports, PRP Suspensions, Stuckey Enterprises, J. Craig's Title Company and Argyle Welding Supply
