Johnny Pursley emerges after his first Carolina Clash victory since 2013.
What won the race: Second-starting Johnny Pursley of Clover, S.C., topped fourth-starting Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., by 1.507 seconds in the Stick Elliott Memorial at Cherokee Speedway. Pursley collected $4,000 for his seventh career Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series triumph.
Quotable: “Wow, what a bounce back this was for our team after the hard crash at Swainsboro a few weeks ago that destroyed our car,” Pursley said. “I’ve got to give so much credit to my family, my team, and my sponsors for helping me get back on track and right back to the front. This win is for them.”
Key notes: Pursley earned his first series victory of the season; his previous Clash victory came in the 2013 finale at Fayetteville, N.C. ... Five of the 18 starters finished on the lead lap. ...
