Johnny Pursley won his second straight Carolina Clash feature.
What won the race: Johnny Pursley of Clover, S.C., used his outside pole starting position to his advantage in racing to victory in the 44th annual Shrine Race at Carolina Speedway. Pursley beat last year's winner Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., to the checkers in the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event to earn $3,000.
Key notes: The victory was Pursley's eighth career Carolina Clash victory, and his second Clash victory of the season. .. The victory was Pursley's second straight Carolina Clash victory as he was also the winner of Aug. 6's Stick Elliott Memorial at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C. ... Seven of 14 starters completed 35 laps.
On the move: Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C. started 10th and finished fourth.
