Chris Simpson led all the way for $10,000 at West Liberty.
What won the race: Polesitter Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, picked up his second straight $10,000 MLRA victory in as many nights by picking up the Tornado Tuesday victory at West Liberty Raceway. Simpson led all 50 laps for his fourth MLRA victory of the season, all at Iowa tracks.
Quotable: "It's a hell of a week. I wish every Monday and Tuesday would start out like this," Simpson said. "I just got to thank my crew and fans that stuck behind me. The hours I've put in on the car in the last week, with my crew guy being gone, I think have really helped. It made me get under the car and work on it and not just rely on them."
Key notes: The victory was Simpson's eighth career MLRA victory. ... Simpson has turned things around with victories at Farley and West Liberty. Prior to his Monday-Tuesday sweep, he had a single top-five finish in his previous 12 starts. ... Runner-up Terry Phillips started seventh and survived a hot engine. ... Third-place finisher Jesse Stovall spun on a mid-race restart but rallied for a podium finish. ... Outside front-row starter Nick Marolf dropped out after attempting to take the lead from Simpson and ending up in the turn-one wall. ... Five cautions slowed the action and nine cars were running at the finish on a hammer-down surface. ... Kyle Hinrichs won West Liberty's IMCA Late Model feature (just two divisions were in action and racing was complete by 9:30). ... MLRA action continues Wednesday at Deer Creek followed by an off day on Thursday and two nights of action on Friday and Saturday at Junction Motor.
