What won the race: Rebounding after two tough nights, series points leader Jesse Stovall of Billings, Mo., got back on the winning track Wednesday at Deer Creek Speedway in grabbing the first Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association event in Minnesota. Stovall earned $5,000 and ended the two-race series win streak of Iowa's Chris Simpson, who finished fifth. Fourth-starting Ryan Gustin finished just three-tenths of a second behind Stovall in second while polesitter Jimmy Mars, who led a single lap on the third circuit, was third.

Quotable: "It sure is a long ways up here, but it's a heck of a racetrack," Stovall said. "I'd come back again. I was just trying to hit my marks every time. I really appreciate them having us up here on a weeknight like this. This place is awesome; there ain't a hole in it."

Key notes: Stovall posted his fourth MLRA victory of the season and 19th of his career. ... In Iowa events earlier in the week, Stovall contended but was forced out by an oil leak Monday at Farley, and then spun Tuesday at West Liberty, salvaging a third-place finish. ... Sixteen of 21 starters completed 40 laps at Deer Creek in the makeup of a May 14 rainout.

On the move: Driving a Jimmy Mars backup car, Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, started ninth and finished sixth.
