What won the race: Fourth-starting Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., took the lead from Casey Meyer on a lap-nine restart and raced to victory at I-94 Speedway's King of the Dirt for his first OneMain Financial WISSOTA Challenge Series victory of 2016. Redetzke earned $3,000 in the tour's first visit to Fergus Falls as fellow Wisconsin drivers John Kaanta and Steve Laursen joined Redetzke in sweeping the top three spots.
Key notes: Redetzke's 13th series victory was his first since June 7, 2015, at Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D. ... Casey Meyer led the field back to green on the ninth lap but made contact with the turn-two wall, contributing to Redetzke's taking of the lead. ... Jeff Provinzino pitted under yellow early and was later collected in a wreck that also involved Kevin Robertson, who made hard contact with the backstretch wall. ... Sprint car superstar Donny Schatz made the first of three planned Late Model starts during the weekend. ... Fourteen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... The WISSOTA Challenge Series debut at I-94 Speedway opened a doubleheader that continues Friday at Fiesta City Speedway in Montevideo, Minn.
On the move: Steve Laursen of Cumberland, Wis., started 12th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Redetzke's MB Customs Race Car is sponsored by J&D Manufacturing, Champ Pans and CMD Shocks.
