What won the race: Winning what's likely his final start at a track where he's had extensive success, Hall of Famer Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., earned $5,000 Friday for a MARS DIRTcar Series victory at Tri-City Speedway. Moyer, who started outside the front row, took the checkers ahead five seconds ahead of runner-up Bobby Pierce in leading all the way.
Key notes: Moyer has 21 career MARS victories; he plans to retire at the conclusion of 2016. ... He has least one victory at Tri-City in four of the past five seasons; his most recent was June 3 for a $2,000 triumph ... Jesse Stovall was the only driver in the top 10 in MARS points to crack the top 10 finishers. ... Twelve drivers completed 40 laps. ... MARS made its second-ever appearance at the Granite City, Ill., track.
