Michael Norris heads to a UFO victory at Pittsburgh.
What won the race: Michael Norris of Sarver, Pa., charged from the eighth starting position to capture the 35-lap UFO Championship-sanctioned Red Miley Rumble at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The 24-year-old driver passed Dan Angelicchio for the lead on lap eight and never looked back en route to a $3,053 triumph that was his first-ever in UFO competition.
Key notes: Norris dominated the feature once in command, pulling away from the field after the race's lone caution flag flew on lap 20 to defeat Devin Moran by 5.306 seconds. ... Moran overtook Angelicchio for second on lap 21 and held the runner-up spot for the remainder of the distance. ... Alex Ferree passed Angelicchio for third on lap 30 and finished in the show position. ... After missing the heat races because he attended a wedding, track champion Brandon Burgoon advanced from the 23rd starting spot to finish 13th. ... The race was run as a memorial to former track owner Red Miley.
On the move: Keith Barbara of South Park, Pa., started 12th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Norris's Rocket Chassis No. 72 is sponsored by D&D Auto Salvage, Millerstown Pic-A-Part and Hoosier Tire.
Points chase: Dylan Yoder of Selinsgrove, Pa., ended the night with 183 points to lead the standings over Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, Pa. (178).
