Winner Eric Cooley(33B) battles with runner-up Chandler Petty.
What won the race: Breaking through on a series for the second consecutive weekend, Eric Cooley of Fulton, Miss., led the final four laps of Friday's Comp Cams Super Dirt Series event at Crowley's Ridge Raceway to pocket $2,000. Cooley won seven nights earlier on the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
Quotable: “That was some really fun racing tonight, but at the same time it was nerve racking because to win you had to take big some chances in lapped traffic,” Cooley said. “There was no less than three times that I thought I had put myself in situation, where I was about to spin. But thankfully I didn’t, and we got this win."
Key notes: Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., led the first 26 laps, but Cooley made a low-side move in traffic to take command of the 30-lapper. ... Runner-up and polesitter Chandler Petty drew within one length on the final lap, but Cooley turned back the challenge. ... Seventeen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... Drivers failing to make the feature lineup: DNS: Carey Conaway, Mason Oberkramer, Josh Green, Jamie Robards, Mike Carr, Brandon Poppenheimer, Steven Crocker, James West, Brandon Smith and Ashley Newman. ... The tour also visits Riverside International Speedway and Greenville Speedway on Saturday and Sunday.
On the move: Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Ark., started 15th and finished eighth to win Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger honors.
Winner's sponsors: Cooley's Barry Wright Race Car is powered by a Jeff Burns Race Engine and is sponsored by 78 Towing & Recovery, Cooley Transport Inc., Eric Cooley Trucking, Bryson Motorsports, Fleetco Inc., DJ Transportation and Rhino Wraps.
Points chase: Entering the three-race weekend, Hunter Rasdon of Jonesboro, Ark., had a 30-point lead over fellow Natural State driver Kyle Beard; Sullivan sits third, 43 points behind the leader.
