What won the race: Third-starting Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., led all 25 laps Saturday at Viking Speedway to end Dustin Strand's four-race winning streak on the Northern LateModel Racing Association. Shaw earned $1,600 in the first of two holiday weekend series events at the half-mile oval, while Strand settled for fifth.
Key notes: Rick Schroeder of Montevideo, Minn., started on the pole and faded to finish sixth. ... Fourteen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... Following Sunday's Viking action, NLRA wraps up its 2016 campaign Sept. 8 at River Cities Speedway.
On the move: Steffen Snare of Hallock, Minn., started 13th and finished eighth.
