David Payne of Murphy, N.C., waves to the crowd in Tazewell, Tenn.
What won the race: Inheriting the lead when polesitter Vic Hill had a flat tire, David Payne of Murphy, N.C., led the rest of the 44-lap Buddy Rogers Memorial for a $4,400 payday on the Southern Nationals Bonus Series. The third-starting Payne took the checkers ahead of unrelated pursuers Billy Ogle Jr. and Chad Ogle at the high-banked quarter-mile oval.
Key notes: Payne is the tour's seventh winner in as many events this season. ... The race was red-flagged on the second lap for a medical emergency in the grandstands. ... Chad Ogle won last year's race. ... Hill piloted John Tweed's No. 5. ... Tazewell hosted its lone Bonus Series race.
On the move: Terry Wolfenbarger of Clinton, Tenn., started 11th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Payne's Capital Race Car is sponsored by Payne Excavating, Gibson Motorsports and Interstate Welding and Steel Supply.
Points chase: Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., tops the standings with 1,166 points over David Payne (1,108) and Ryan King (1,066).
