Bobby Pierce and his supporters signify his three straight victories.
What won the race: Completing a Tri-City tripleheader sweep for the second straight season, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., outdueled polesitter Jason Feger early and went on to collect $3,000 Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval, taking the checkers ahead of Frank Heckenast Jr. and Shannon Babb.
Quotable: "Me and Feger had a battle side-by-side for I don't know how many laps it was," Pierce said. "It was a lot of fun. To race someone that close for the lead and not touch is really cool. I'm just glad we got the win and got the sweep for the weekend. I can't say enough about my family, my crew and everyone that helps me out, all my sponsors. It's unbelievable."
Key notes: Pierce, who registered his 22nd overall win of 2016, has clinched his third straight UMP DIRTcar weekly title. ... Tanner English started outside the front row but was shuffled back to fifth early and never contended. ... Ken Rumble spun for an early caution. ... Saturday's race was the third of three Late Model events on the undercard of the Summit Racing Modified Mania tripleheader.
On the move: Frank Heckenast Jr. of Frankfort, Ill., started fifth and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: The winning Bob Pierce Race Car carries a Pro Power engine and is sponsored by Allgayer Inc., Premier Waste Services, Carnaghi Towing and Repair, Ted Brown's Quality Paint and Body Shop, Bergers Marina, Hoker Trucking, Champion Spark Plugs, Keyser Mfg., Sweet Mfg. and AR Bodies.
Points chase: Entering the weekend, Michael Kloos of Trenton, Ill., led Tri-City's weekly Late Model standings with 786 points over Billy Laycock (768).
