What won the race: Polesitter Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., won a duel with eighth-starting Brandon Overton of Appleton, Ga., for a Southern Nationals Bonus Series at Tri-County Racetrack, earning $4,053 in the Tar Heel 50. Early race leader Casey Roberts spun out of contention in turn one on the fifth lap.
Quotable: "Brandon came up through there and gave me all I wanted. I had to work for that one. That was a lot of fun, me and him throwing sliders back and forth," said Davenport, who grew up racing at Tri-County. "Everybody out there watching, they've gotta come check this place out. I love this place. I know this is home for me, but this is one helluva racetrack."
Key notes: Overton twice slipped ahead of Davenport briefly but never officially led a lap. ... Despite carburetor issues, Davenport earned his fourth career Southern Nationals Bonus Series victory. ...
