Dustin Strand heads to his second straight Stampede victory.
What won the race: Capping a 20-victory season that led to the overall WISSOTA Points title, third-starting Dustin Strand of Grand Folks, N.D., topped second-starting Curt Gelling in the WISSOTA Late Model portion of the Stock Car Stampede at Jamestown Speedway. Strand earned $3,000 in the weather-postponed event as he won Jamestown's biggest race for the second straight season.
Quotable: “Wow, what a season this has been,” Strand said. “Things started a little slower than we might’ve liked this season, but when things finally kicked into gear, we put together a phenomenal year.”
Key notes: Strand won his first Late Model race of the season at Jamestown. ... Pat Doar and Tom Thompson were the only retirees. ... Prelims were completed Friday. ... Originally schedule for Sept. 23-24, the 45th annual Stock Car Stampede was postponed by three weeks by inclement weather.
On the move: Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., rallied from 12th to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Strand's Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by Q&Z Plumbing and Heating, Schill Construction, RealTruck.com, Forks Mobile Wash, Generation Spa & Salon, McCagugen's Everflow Eaverstroughing, Fastlane Racing Equipment and Anderson Brothers Body Shop.
