What won the race: Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., led all 40 laps of Friday's NASCAR weekend opener for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at Talladega Short Track.
Key notes: The victory was Hedgecock's sixth NeSmith score of the season. ... Tim Roszell outdueled Chase Junghans to capture the companion Super Late Model feature, which served as a tuneup for Saturday night's Southern All Star Series event. ...
