Bobby Pierce gets rolling at Florence before his $5,000 payday.
What won the race: Pulling ahead of outside polesitter Jeff Babcock of Wayne, Ohio, on lap 13 of 50, sixth-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., dominated the remaining distance to register a $5,000 victory in Florence Speedway's unsanctioned Fall 50.
Quotable: "I think we've got something figured out here," Pierce said. "Going through the race, I was thinking of the different driving styles here. ... I like a track like, the Kings, they do a great job, and everyone here. This used to be one of my least favorite tracks because I was never really good here, but then I started getting the hang of it and I really like it now."
Key notes: Pierce, the 2016 Sunoco North-South 100 winner, scored his second consecutive Fall 50 victory and his 24th win on the season. ... In a tight battle, front-row starters Eddie Carrier Jr. and Jeff Babcock swapped the lead in the opening laps. ... The race was slowed by three cautions. ... The first yellow flag waved on lap 28 as a smoking Joe Godsey retired to the infield. … Cody Mahoney slowed on the racetrack to draw a caution on lap 39. … A yellow flag flew on lap 41 for debris on the racing surface. ... Fifth-place finisher Jackie Boggs notched a podium finish in the $5,000-to-win American Modified Series event won by Trent Young.
On the move: Eric Wells of Hazard, Ky., advanced from the 10th starting spot to run third; Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, Ind., rallied from the 20th starting position to finish seventh.
