Austin Hubbard enjoys victory lane in Delmar, Del.
What won the race: Winning the Delaware State Dirt Track Championship for the first time, polesitter Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del., returned to the track for a $7,885 payday at Delaware International Speedway. Hubbard was back in action for the first time since breaking an ankle and suffering other injuries in a July passenger-vehicle accident.
Quotable: “I’ve led 49 laps a couple of times and 48 laps once,” the 24-year-old Hubbard said. “It is really great to finally win this one.”
Key notes: The winner's purse paid $5,000 with a gambler's fee and a cancer awareness bonus, bringing Hubbard's earnings to $7,885. ...
