What won the race: Travis Pennington of Stapleton, Ga., outran Garrett Shurling of Ellabell, Ga., to capture a $2,000 NeSmith RockAuto.com Winter Shootout victory at Oglethorpe Speedway Park.

A portion of the proceeds go to the Coastal Georgia Alzheimer’s Association. … Robert Diekemper and Garrett Shurling split last year’s event; Shurling finished runner-up in Friday's show. … Points leader Kyle Bronson of Brandon Fla., was not in attendance Friday. ...
