Chad Thrash heads for a victory at Greenville Speedway.
What won the race: Chad Thrash of Meridian, Miss., led the final three laps of the opening night of two events for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series at Greenville Speedway, winning by .344 of a second ahead of Mike Palasini Jr. Thrash took the lead from Palasini on a lap-37 restart and led the final three circuits for the $2,000 victory, his first with the series in more than a year.
Key notes: The win was the first MSCCS victory for Thrash since topping Clay Fisher on Aug. 1, 2015 at Columbus (Miss.) Speedway, and the 10th of his career. ... Fifteen cars completed all 50 laps. ... Mark Dodson was the first driver one lap down. ... Friday’s race was the weekend opener for back-to-back MSCCS races at Greenville as the series competitors will stay put and race there on Saturday as well. … The event was slowed by five cautions.
On the move: Rick Rickman of Columbus, Miss., finished fifth after winning the second B-main.
