What won the race: Regaining the lead on lap 18 of 50, polesitter Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., led the remaining distance, fighting back challenges from sixth-starting Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., to score a $5,000 Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals victory at Florence Speedway.
Key notes: Winning Friday's series stop at Ponderosa Speedway, Overton swept the Spring Nationals weekend doubleheader. ... The Florence victory marks Overton's fifth of the 2017 season. ... The race had three official lead changes (Eric Wells on lap eight, Devin Moran on lap 13 and Overton on lap 18). ... Runner-up finisher Mike Marlar nearly pulled ahead of Overton when the Dream Team driver slipped over the turn-four cushion with only a couple of laps remaining, but his charge was slowed by a lapped car. ... The race was slowed by two cautions. ... A yellow flag flew on the first lap when Ricky Weiss spun in turn two. … Colin Green spun in in turn four to draw a caution on lap 34. ... John Gill of Mitchell, Ind., was the winner of the Crate Late Model feature. ... Spring Nationals action continues next weekend with a pair of events at Crossville (Tenn.) On the move: Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky., improved from the ninth starting spot to finish fifth. Jason Croft of Woodstock, Ga., advanced from the 21st starting position to run 12th.
