Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., led all 35 laps to win the Battle of the Bay at Potomac.
What won the race: Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., put up a strong defense of his home turf Friday night, leading all 35 laps of the second night of the Battle of the Bay miniseries to score a $3,000 victory at Potomac Speedway. The race's outside polesitter registered his first win of the season and the 12th of his career at the track.
Quotable: "We weren't as good as we could of been in time trials, but the car really came around for the feature," Hollidge said. "This is the same car we took to Georgia (for February's World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series events) and it's the first time we've run it here at home, and I'd say it was pretty good for the feature."
Key notes: Dan Stone ran second behind Hollidge for 19 laps before mechanical trouble forced him to retire on lap 24. ... Amanda Whaley, who set the fast time for the second straight night, inherited the bridesmaid position from Stone and finished there. It was the Delaware driver's second runner-up finish of 2017 at Potomac. ... Ross Robinson recovered from an early-race spin to finish fourth. ... The race was part of the three-race Battle of the Bay weekend, a miniseries that started at Delaware International Speedway on Thursday night before moving to Potomac on Friday. It wraps up the weekend at Winchester (Va.) Speedway on Saturday … The three tracks will join for two more rounds of the miniseries, on July 27-29 and Aug. 10-12. ... Matt Hill scored a flag-to-flag win in the 25-lap RUSH Crate Late Model feature for his third career win at the track.
Winner's sponsors: Hollidge’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Hershey Race Engine and sponsored by Gunter’s Honey, Performance Auto Works, Joe’s Fabrication, All About Wraps, HTMA, Three Mules Welding Supplies and Carruth & Son Concrete.
