A happy Gordy Gundaker talks about his $2,000 victory at Quincy.
What won the race: Gordy Gundaker of St. Charles, Mo., raced to a Midwest Big 10 Series victory holding off Michael Kloos of Trenton, lll., to capture the Scottie 43 victory at Quincy Raceway. Gundaker led the final 26 laps of the 40-lapper and won by 1.26 seconds. He earned $2,000 for his first series victory.
Quotable: "I love coming back here in front of these great fans," Gundaker told Steve Eighinger of the Herald-Whig. “I love it here. This is like my second home, and it's even greater when you can win."
Key notes: Gundaker notched his first feature victory since a weekly triumph May 21, 2016, at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo. ... The win was Gundaker's third A-main victory at Quincy. ... The Scottie is held in honor of the late Albert Scott and his family. The Scott family built the track and operated it for more than 30 years. ... Previous winners of the Scottie include McKay Wenger (’16); Mark Burgtorf (’15); and Bobby Pierce (’14). ... Saturday’s Big 10 opener at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill., was rained out.
