What won the race: In a thrilling race in front of a huge crowd, fifth-starting Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., maneuvered through lapped traffic to take a late-race lead from Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, notching his 107th MLRA series victory.
Quotable: "I knew I had a good car," Phillips said, "and the slicker it got, it seemed to be the better I got."
Key notes: John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., led 30 laps from the outset while seeking his second consecutive victory, but ultimately settled for fourth at the finish. ... Andy Eckrich of Oxford, Iowa, challenged Anderson early. ... Gustin got rolling on the high side to reach second, then made a crossover move to take the lead from Anderson on lap 31. ... Phillips slipped under Gustin in the closing laps, and Gustin ran out of room on the backstretch when he attempted to regain the point. ... Mid-race cautions appeared for Bill Koons and then debris on the next lap. ... The race was co-sanctioned by the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series. ... Anderson won Friday's co-sanctioned stop at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. ... Both tours made their first-ever appearance at the Donnellson, Iowa, oval.
