What won the race: Series ironman Darrel DeFrance of Marshalltown, Iowa, led all 40 laps Sunday at Quad City Speedway for his first Deery Brothers Summer Series victory since 2012. The polesitting DeFrance earned $2,000 in taking the checkers just ahead of a hard-charging Jesse Sobbing.
Quotable: “I could hear him out there. I knew the bottom was going away a little and figured the higher line was coming in,” the 56-year-old DeFrance said. “The car worked right for us tonight. We made a few adjustments and it worked just right.”
Key notes: DeFrance, who has competed in all 473 events on the series that launched in 1987, notched his 14th career series victory. ... His only other series vicotry at Quad City came in 1993. ...
