What won the race: Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, topped fellow front-row starter Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., for a $3,000 victory to close out the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Assocation's tripleheader weekend.
Quotable: "We learned quite a bit tonight and tried some new things that we've never tried before," said Gustin. "I think we hit on something there. Hopefully we can keep it up and go get us some more wins throughout the season. This place is kind of different than anywhere else we'll go the rest of the season. We already got a good heat race package when the track's got some bite in it. Now I think we've got something figured out when it gets slick."
Key notes: Gustin reversed the finish of Friday's event at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, where Phillips triumphed and he claimed runner-up honors. ... John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., won Thursday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. ... The series visited Randolph County for the first time since June 24, 2010, when the track was known as 24 Raceway.
On the move: Travis Dickes of Madison, Neb., rallied from 22nd to finish 12th.
Winner's sponsors: Gustin’s Ed and Cinde Gressel-owned Rocket Chassis carries sponsorship from Eibach Springs, FastShafts by AxleExchange, Hinchman Racewear, Integra Racing Shocks, McCarthney Welding, Midwest Hearing Aids, R2C Performance Products, Sybesma Graphics and VP Race Fuels.
Points chase: Series points leader Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, recorded his third-consecutive third-place finish and extended his points lead once again.
