Curt Gelling won Sunday's Marilyn Olson Memorial at Casino Speedway.
What won the race: Starting outside of the front row, Curt Gelling of Aberdeen, S.D., outran eighth-starting John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., to pick up Sunday's WISSOTA Shaw Trucking Challenge Series win at Casino Speedway. The victory in the Marilyn Olson Memorial was worth $2,071.
Key notes: Gelling led all 40 laps of the feature. ... Chad Becker took the lead from Gelling near the midpoint of the main event, but a caution waved, giving Gelling a reprieve. Back at the point on the restart, Gelling led the rest of the way. ... Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., who won series events on Thursday and Saturday, crossed the stripe fourth, but was DQ'ed because his car was light at the scales. ... Blake Swensen and Steve Laursen failed to start the feature. ... The fifth annual Marilyn Olson Memorial Late Model Challenge wrapped up a four-race weekend for the WISSOTA Challenge Series. ... Shaw won two Dakota State Fair Speedway races during the busy series weekend (collecting $15,000) while hometown driver Chad Becker won at Brown County Speedway.
