Brandon Fouts celebrates his $5,000 victory in Portsmouth, Ohio.
What won the race: Brandon Fouts of Kite, Ky., outran Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, W.Va., for a $5,000 victory in the unsanctioned Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50 at Portsmouth Raceway Park.
Key notes: As the Gator 50 winner, Fouts is guaranteed a provisional starting spot in the 37th annual Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth on Oct. 21-22. … Fouts posted a top-five finish in the June 10 show at PRP after starting 17th. … Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., was the winner of last year’s Gator 50; he finished 13th. … FOr his fast time, Fouts received $250 from Lemley Motorsports, $100 from Lee Floyd in memory of "Big H" Harold Floyd, and a $50 gift card from Impact Race Gear. ... The Ohio oval will host the first of its three Lucas Oil Series events, the Independence 60 on July 1.
