What won the race: Mark Pettyjohn of Milton, Del., remained hot at Delaware International Speedway with a victory in Tuesday night's 25-lap Camp Barnes Benefit Race. He started from the pole position and led the entire distance to pocket $3,625, including lap money.
Key notes: Pettyjohn was also victorious at DIS on June 10 and finished second in the track's June 3 feature. ... Donald Lingo Jr. outdueled Dale Hollidge to finish second. ... Ricky Elliott blew a right-rear and hit the homestretch wall with two laps to go. ... Herb Tunis flipped wildly in his heat but wasn't injured. ... Joe Warren recorded his third DIS win of the season in the evening's 15-lap RUSH Crate Late Model feature, defeating Matt Hill and Austin Hubbard, who pulled double-duty. ... The large crowd on hand greated the return of longtime promoter Charlie Cathell, who was recently hospitalized with burns suffered in a work accident at DIS, with a standing ovation when he brought his familiar road grader on the track at intermission. ... Proceeds from the 45th annual event was benefit the Delaware State Police-owned Camp Barnes, which kids 10-13 can attend free of charge.
