Jack Sullivan heads to a $2,000 victory at Greenville Speedway.
What won the race: Defending series champion Jack Sullivan led all 35 laps Friday at Greenville Speedway for his fourth victory in the last five Comp Cams Super Dirt Series races. Sullivan took the checkers 1.7 seconds ahead of Robert Baker in becoming the tour's winningest driver.
Quotable: “It seems like feast of famine for me at this place,” Sullivan said. “Either I’m ending the night with a good run or I’m back in the pits trying to figure out how I’m going to fit it back in the trailer. It definitely feels great to finally get a win at this place.”
Key notes: Sullivan has a series-leading five victories in 2017 and 21 overall, one more than Wendell Wallace (he finished 10th). ... Eleven of 20 starters completed 35 laps in a race slowed by several early cautions. ... Polesitter Garrett Alberson slipped out of the top five after 10 laps and settled for sixth. ... Gavin Landers went from 12th to fifth. ... The series returned to action after a six-week hiatus. … Brian Rickman picked up $750 for fast time. ... Clay Fisher had problems with his hauler en route to the track, then wrecked in his consolation race; he received the Henryetta Ford Hard Luck Award.
On the move: Robert Baker of Bryant, Ark., started seventh and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: Sullivan’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Triple A Diesel Service, Merrill Bonding, Bad Boy Mowers, Peterson Fluid Systems, Keyser Manufacturing Co., and Sweet Mfg.
Points chase: Heading to Greenville, Jack Sullivan (952 points) of Greenbrier, Ark., led Garrett Alberson (891), Kyle Beard (891), B.J. Robinson (876) and Zach McMillan (859).
