Logan Martin gets rolling in time trials at Monett Speedway.
What won the race: With the front-row starters falling from contention early, Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., took command at Monett Speedway for a $3,000 MARS West victory in the Tony Roper Memorial. Martin repelled late challenges from Mason Oberkramer to notch his second career MARS DIRTcar Series victory as heavy clouds approached during the main event.
Key notes: Martin's previous MARS victory came last September at his hometown Legit Speedway Park. ... Front-row starters Rodney Sanders (blown tire) and Tony Jackson Jr. (pitted during caution for Sanders) fell from contention early. ... A flurry of cautions slowed the feature with heavy clouds approaching. ... Officials scrapped heat races because of threatening weather with the main event starting before 8 p.m. ... Three previous MARS events at Monett had rained out. ... Nick Whitehead scratched from the feature lineup.
On the move: Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., started 11th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Logan's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Adams Construction, Big Lot at Reliable Chevrolet, Steed Bros., Integra Racing Shocks and Springs and Bill Frye Motorsports.
Points chase: Seventh-place finisher Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., tops the MARS West standings.
