What won the race: Spoiling reigning series champ Jack Sullivan's attempt at a three-race Mississippi weekend sweep, hometown driver Brian Rickman led all 35 laps Sunday at Magnolia Speedway for his first career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory. Rickman, who started outside the front row, earned $2,000 while Sullivan finished fourth.
Quotable: “My car was awesome, but it was far from easy because my throttle spring broke early in the feature, so I was having to pull the pedal back up with my foot for most of the race,” Rickman said. “It feels great to win one of these races finally, and I want to dedicate it to everyone who helps me on this car.”
Key notes: Rickman took the checkers 3.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Chad Thrash in a caution-free feature. ... Jack Sullivan, who previously claimed a May 13 CCSDS stop at Magnolia, won the weekend's previous series events at Greenville and Jackson. ... Eleven drivers completed 35 laps at Magnolia. ... The Southern All Star Series visits Magnolia on July 15.
On the move: Eric Cooley of Fulton, Miss., started 13th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Rickman's Rocket Chassis has a Jay Dickens Racing Engine is sponsored by Advanced Logistics, 1250 Package Store, Rickman Brothers Trucking and McKleroy Motorsports.
