Brady Wonderling earned his first ULMS victory.
What won the race: Inheriting the lead when Max Blair suffered a flat tire on the 23rd lap, third-starting Brady Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., led the remainder of the 30-lap distance for his first career victory on the Zimmer's United Late Model Series. Wonderling collected $3,000 over second-starting Greg Oakes of Franklinville, N.Y., and hard-charging Charlie Powell of Brookville, Pa., at Genesee Speedway, which hosted Super Late Models for the first time since 1989.
Key notes: The victory was Brady Wonderling's first of the season. ... Wonderling became the fifth different ULMS winner in 2017. ... Polesitter Dave DuBois led the first seven laps before slipping over the banking in turns 3 and 4, allowing Blair to take command. ... Blair held the lead until his lap-23 misfortune; he rallied back to finish fifth. ... Dave Hess Jr. slipped high in the final corner and fell from second to fourth at the finish. ... The feature was slowed by two cautions on laps two and 15. ... With the track's scoring loop cut, passing points were used to line up the feature; the top six redrew for their feature starting spots.
On the move: Top-five finishers Charlie Powell, Dave Hess Jr. and Max Blair all rallied back from the tail after suffering flat tires during the feature.
Winner's sponsors: Wonderling's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by KB Graphics and The Store.
Points chase: Entering the event, Dave Hess Jr. led the series standings with 158 points over Greg Oakes (122) and Jared Miley (111).
