Billy Moyer heads for a Comp Cams Series victory at I-30 Speedway.
What won the race: Billy Moyer led all 45 laps from the outside front row to win the seventh annual Comp Cams-sanctioned Rockabilly 45 at I-30. Moyer of Batesville, Ark., took the lead over polesitter Garrett Alberson at the start and never looked back, beating Robert Baker and series points leader Jack Sullivan to the finish.
Quotable: “We really had more there than what we showed with this car tonight, but I wanted to make sure I didn’t hurt my tires,” said Moyer. “I haven’t run here just a ton, so I’m not real familiar with how the tires would hold up. One minute they felt like they were giving up and the next they were firing perfectly.”
Key notes: It was Moyer’s seventh CCSDS win and first since 2012. ... This was the richest stand-alone Comp Cams event of the season. … Wendell Wallace, Shane Harris, Timothy Culp, Joseph Long, Charlie Cole and Lynn Beach failed to start the feature. ... The race was slowed by four cautions. … The night also served as a fundraiser and awareness event for the Will McGary Foundation. McGary was a Conway, Ark., police officer, who was fatally injured in the line of duty in February 2013. The Foundation was created to support law enforcement and youth in the central Arkansas area. … Through 11 events, six different drivers have wins this season. … Sullivan of Greenbrier, Ark., has six series victories this season and tops the series all-time win list with 22.
On the move: Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., was the hard charger.
