Rusty Schlenk earned his second $5,000 check at Mansfield.
What won the race: Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, outdueled Jared Miley on Sunday for his second $5,000 victory of the season at Mansfield Motor Speedway. Miley led 16 of the first 17 laps (the fifth-starting Schlenk was out front on lap 8) before the winner took command to lead the rest of the 30-lapper with Miley and Rod Conley second and third in the exciting feature.
Quotable: "I knew we were in for a workout when we drew the 5 (starting spot," Schlenk said. "Miley was up front and (Drown) was there, and I knew there was a couple of good cars up front. The track was too our liking. The first time we were here it was rough and wide open. We've been pretty good in the slick all year long, so I was glad to see it polish off."
Key notes: Schlenk last won at Mansfield on March 25. ... A single lap-24 yellow flew for a slowing Nathon Loney. ... Doug Drown briefly got up to second late in the race but settled for fourth. ... Ten of 24 starters completed 30 laps. ... Charlie Duncan and Jared Miley started on the front row. ... On the move: Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, started ninth and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Schlenk’s C.J. Rayburn Race Car is powered by an ECR Engine and sponsored by Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Dominator Race Products, Allstar Performance and Velocita.
