Rick Singleton grabbed a RUSH touring victory at Potomac.
What won the race: Polesitter Rick Singleton of Front Royal, Va., led every lap to pocket $2,500 in a caution-plagued 30-lap event. He recorded his second straight victory on the RUSH Dirt Late Model Series.
Quotable: “I get to have all the fun, but Clint (Enyeart) gets this check so I don’t know how all that works out,” joked the winning Singleton. “I do have to thank Clint though as he works on these cars day and night and I’m not really around that much. That was good racing even though there were a lot of cautions. It’s tough to win these races. Sometimes it’s better to start back there as when you’re up front you don’t know which line is better. I couldn’t figure out if I wanted to run the top or bottom. I didn’t know if anyone was putting pressure on me or not. I’ve never been here before so I didn’t know what the quick way around this place is.”
Key notes: Singleton was never challenged despite a parade of cautions throughout; he previously won June 7 at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pa. ... The series made its inaugural appearance at Potomac. ... The race drew 22 cars from eight different states and the feature's top-five finishers each came from a different state. ... David Puckett lowered the track record in qualifying. ... The series contested only the third of 18 scheduled races this season.
On the move: John Over of Uniontown, Pa., roared to life from 21st to finish 3rd. Over suffered mechanical issues in hot laps and qualifying, which forced him to miss his heat race, and then was caught up in a pair of early cautions.
Winner's sponsors: Singleton's MasterSbilt by Huey race car is powered by an Ingram Engine and is sponsored by Clint Enyeart Racing, Hoosier Racing Tire, Singleton Rental and TC Race Cars.
Points chase: Entering Friday's action, Chad McLellan had 192 points to lead Jason Rider by two points. Ryan Montgomery wass third with 178 points, while John Waters (169 points) and Cody Dawson (165) rounded out the top five.
