What won the race: Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, Va., rolled to a convincing win over Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., in Saturday's Fastrak Triple Crown event at Wythe Raceway. Bare, who took the lead from a faltering Kenny Peeples Jr. on lap 26, beat Davenport to the checkers by 4.727 seconds, earning $3,000 for winning the 50-lap feature on the half-mile oval.
Quotable: “My car was just a dream to drive all night long,” Bare said. “I was a little intimated on that lap 30 double-file restart when I looked over and saw Jonathan Davenport next to me! But this race car was such a dream, I can’t say it enough as to how it performed tonight. I didn’t see Davenport after we went green.”
Key notes: The win was Bare's ninth overall victory this season. ... After leading the first 25 laps, Kenny Peeples Jr. retired on lap 29 after losing speed on a mid-race restart. ... Ten of the 12 finishers completed 50 laps. ... The second race of the 12th annual Triple Crown was a makeup of a Memorial Day weekend rainout. … Fastrak tour points leader Matthew Nance of Ronda, N.C., finished fifth. ... Just 12 points separated the top five drivers entering Wythe. … There have been seven different winners in eight series races. ... Steve Blackburn of Greensboro, N.C., won the May 26 Triple Crown opener at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, N.C. … The series returns to Wythe on Sept. 3.
