What won the race: Leading flag-to-flag, Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., won Saturday's fog-shortened Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series race, collecting his second tour victory of the season and fifth of his career. Rickman outran David Breazeale and Chad Thrash in a race stopped at lap 40 of the scheduled 50 because of dense fog. Rickman pocketed $2,500.
Key notes: Rickman took the lead at the start and was never headed. ... David Breazeale took the lead on the first start attempt, but a caution for a spinning car negated the initial start. ... ECM (Eric Cates Memorial) Speedway, formerly, Arkadelphia Speedway, hosted its first-ever MSCCS event and the only race the Mississippi-based tour will hold in Alabama in ’17. ... In 11 MSCCS races contested in the state of Alabama in series history, home-state drivers have won just three times. Jason Hiett of Oxford, Ala., won at Talladega Short Track on June 25, 2016; Tim Busha of Boaz, Ala., won at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia on July 15, 2005; Danny Peoples of Margaret, Ala., won at Talladega Short Track on Sept. 3, 2005. ... Rickman joins Breazeale and Billy Moyer Jr., as the only multiple series winners this season.
Winner's sponsors: Rickman's Rocket Chassis has a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and is sponsored by Advanced Logistics, 1250 Package Store, Rickman Brothers Trucking and McKleroy Motorports.
Points chase: Chad Thrash (1,645 points) leads Brian Rickman (1,520), Michael Arnold (1,380), Rick Rickman (1,325) and Billy Franklin (1,245).
